The new Welcome Week by ESN Novi Sad and the next group of students coming to an exchange program, marks a completely new and exciting period of time. Under the influence of the multicultural environment, I look at Novi Sad from a different angle, a bit foreign. Everyday life becomes less monotonous, and the environment is painted with some lighter colors.

Welcome Week, as always, was busy and was marked by many activities. The first activity was Speed Friending at the iBeer Concept Bar, which immediately left a great impression on foreign students and new volunteers. Exchange students had the opportunity to get to know each other through various free-type questions. Since Welcome Week is preceded by the recruitment of new volunteers, they also had the opportunity to get to know each other, and exchange students. In that way, they realized how teamwork works and how efficiently they can work together. The organization was really great and everything went well.

The next activities were City Tour and Žabac Game Night. The first and key event to get to know Novi Sad is the City Tour, with the help of guides and volunteers, students were able to hear interesting facts about Novi Sad and its famous buildings. Through the quiz, they competed on which group would find all the answers to the questions first. In the evening, bowling was waiting for them in Žabac, one of their favorite social activities. These events have contributed to us showing ourselves in the best light and leaving a strong impression on exchange students that will motivate them to come to the events that follow.

One cultural activity was also part of our Welcome Week, and that was a workshop for learning Cyrillic held at KC Lab - Learning Cyrillic. Students were able to learn the basics of our Cyrillic alphabet with a little practice and assignments, and even learn to read as beginners. I would like to emphasize the importance of learning about Serbian cultural heritage and introducing exchange students to the most beautiful things we can show them - parts of our culture.

One of the most popular events among foreigners and volunteers is the Karaoke party, held in Guerrilla. With the singing of the best hits, everyone had the opportunity to have a good time and get to know each other better. This event is generally popular among young people, so it was well attended.

This was followed by a visit to museums and galleries, the Museum of Vojvodina, the Matica Srpska Gallery and the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection. Invaluable works of art delighted the students, but also our volunteers who mostly did not visit these cultural stations.

Pub Crawl, perhaps the longest, but also one of the most fun events was successful, and was very well attended. The students were divided into two groups, and several volunteers led the groups. The concept is that groups rotate around pubs while individual volunteers wait for groups. An interactive game begins in the pub with tasks that need to be completed, and the winning team receives a prize. This evening ended with a party at Martha’s Pub, which lasted until the early hours in the morning.

The next activity on the list was a visit to the Petrovaradin Fortress, all with a tour of the catacombs along with a guided tour. This idea was especially interesting to exchange students because they generally did not have the opportunity to see something like our fortress. They could hear some interesting information about the historical background of Novi Sad and when the fortress was built. Later, they could enjoy the most beautiful view that stretches along the whole of Novi Sad.

The flag party held at the Kokomo bar was really like a closed event where everyone could have fun, sing, play and meet, and at the same time show a sign in the colors of their country. Parties are usually the most visited, which turned out to be the case for this one as well. The DJ prepared well-known hits and everyone could only say words of praise for this event.

The last and most relaxing event for the end of Welcome Week was the Board Game night at the Mipl Club. They all played their favorite board games in a competitive but friendly spirit. We can freely say that this Welcome Week was well organized and that everyone had a great time. The experiences we gain during these events are truly invaluable and will last a lifetime.

Nova Nedelja dobrodošlice ESN Novog Sada i sledeća grupa studenata koji dolaze na razmenu označava jedan potpuno nov i uzbudljiv period. Pod uticajem multikulturalne sredine, Novi Sad posmatram iz različitog ugla, pomalo tuđeg. Svakodnevnica postane manje monotona, a sredina obojena nekim svetlijim bojama.
